This page will be a short history and photos of Amateur Radio
clubs, repeaters, cities, towns and area.
History
 | Amateur Radio: Repeater description: The Parksville node was
added to The Island Trunk System around 2003 timeframe. Its main purpose is
to provide handheld access to the trunk for the Parksville area. The node is
a low level VHF repeater with an output of 15 watts. Its coverage area
extends from North Nanaimo through Parksville up to Courtenay. It also
covers some areas of Port Alberni. The repeater consists of a
147.680 receiver with a 141.3 PL Tone, and a 147.08 transmitter, a UHF link
radio, an RC-1000 controller and a power supply. Not shown in the picture
below is the cooling fan and the Duplexer. |

 | Cities, towns and areas: The Cities of Parksville and Qualicum Beach are
situated between Nanaimo to the south and Courtenay in the north. Their main
economic industry is tourism. These two cities are considered the jewels of
Vancouver Island. This beautiful island is situated on the West Coast of
British Columbia Canada on the great Pacific ocean |
